Will you accept this mission? - Hi-VIZ #1

My first 2 weeks of September were spent traveling through the Rhineland and the Netherlands on a winch trip with Katinka Buiting and Joelina Gerards.

As with most winch trips, everything that could go wrong did; but it was honestly still such a great time. Morale stayed high as we searched for spots and battled for the clips we got.

We had a solid group dynamic and everyone did their part, supporting each other with cooking, cleaning, rolling, music or driving. It took some dedication, but we STACKED all things considered.

We ended up using 3 different winches during the trip due to battery issues and a computer malfunction. Spot check after spot check; winch failure after winch failure. Eventually we found our rhythm.  We were able to find help pretty easily when we needed an extra set of hands, and overall we covered so much ground.

My favorite day of the trip was getting to sesh this metal flat rail spot we found by accident. We had driven about an hour to go look at a fountain but when we first pulled up we were pretty disappointed. The fountain had no water so no way of riding what we had intended but thankfully on the other side of this development was winch heaven. 

The setup took a bit of genius to figure out, thank you Joelina. Two streetlamps jutted out from the water giving us the perfect anchor point for our kicker and a closeout if you came off the rail early. We tied one end of the kicker to the lamppost and took the other anchor as far as we could to the opposite bank. Joelina stepped up and hit the spot first, getting a sick long pull. And I got a clip there as well.

We found some fans as the sesh went on; more and more people stopped interested in what we were doing. Many of them were happy to have us and actually asked if we were coming back tomorrow because they liked the excitement. We may have accidentally found a retirement community for ex-shredders cause there was no way everyone was so chill.  

Despite everything that happened we ended the trip with more smiles and laughs than anything. And kicked off filming our parts for Hi-Viz with a solid start.
